Digital Preservation Policy

The Educiencia journal implements digital preservation strategies to ensure the long term accessibility, integrity, and availability of its published content, regardless of technological changes.

To achieve this, the journal uses the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which enables the creation of a distributed archive among participating libraries, ensuring the preservation and recovery of content in the event of data loss or failures in the primary system. The journal also participates in digital preservation networks through the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), including tools such as the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).

As part of its preservation strategy, the journal assigns a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to each published article, facilitating persistent identification and long-term retrieval. Content is published and stored in multiple digital formats (HTML, XML, and EPUB), which enhances interoperability and preservation across different technological environments.

Additionally, articles are distributed and indexed in academic databases and repositories, contributing to their preservation through external copies independent of the journal’s primary website.

The journal recognizes that digital preservation systems may periodically update their status records on external platforms; however, its commitment to preservation is based on the active implementation of these technical mechanisms and the diversification of repositories and digital storage networks.
