This study examines the implementation of artificial intelligence in higher education, as well as the most effective strategies for its integration into the academic sphere. We conducted a review of 115 research papers to look at the best ways to do this. Different methods were used to understand the information, such as identifying articles that are cited together, making keyword maps, and looking at trends over time. This helped to understand what has been researched so far and the issues that are most relevant at the moment. The findings show three relevant points: the teaching of artificial intelligence and the development of teachers, the ethical problems that are related to academic integrity and the new ways of teaching that prioritize personalized evaluation and adjust teaching to each student. From this, it talks about some guidelines that institutions and trainers can apply, such as continuous training plans, rules for data management and clear criteria for choosing tools that use artificial intelligence. The work closes with a proposal for institutional guidelines guided by three cross-cutting axes: inclusion, transparency and sustained training.
